The most senior Afghan diplomat in India had resigned from his post yesterday Saturday. In fact, she was detained at the Mumbai airport last month. Zakia Wardak was accused of trying to smuggle 25 kilograms of gold worth an estimated $2.2 million from Dubai.

He further said in his post that I have taken this decision with great regret. Since last year I have been facing personal attacks and defamation. This happened not only to me, but also to people close to my family.
DRI officials received reliable information
According to reports, Zakia Wardak has not been arrested, as he has diplomatic immunity. Generally, if the price of smuggled gold is Rs. 1 crore, the suspect is arrested and criminally prosecuted. Wardak holds a diplomatic passport issued by the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. They were stopped by DRI officials when they were about to leave the airport. Sources were quoted as saying that Zakia Wardak regularly indulged in such illegal activities. Also, DRI officials received reliable information about Zakia Wardak, following which an investigation was initiated.
