Jason Antoon had a “crazy” relationship with all his NCIS: Hawai’i castmates from the start, but his bond with Vanessa Lachey goes further than the rest.
“Vanessa and her spouse, Nick [Lachey], we share the very same birthday,” Antoon, 52, completely told Us Weekly. “We’re November 9th. It is the weirdest issue. The 3 of us have the identical actual birthday.”
He disclosed that if their joint birthday falls on a filming working day in Hawaii, they generally rejoice with treats.
The showrunners will “bring out a large cake and Nick will present up and then we’ll sing and then every person eats the cake at some place,” Antoon defined.
Antoon, who plays tech guru Ernie Malik on the CBS collection, reported that his link with Vanessa, who performs Specific Agent in Demand Jane Tennant, also began for the duration of a celebration.
“She invited me when I got the position and she bought the career [to] this significant sort of luau get together at her dwelling in Encino, [California,]” Antoon recalled. “She reached out to me as a result of Twitter [or] Instagram. She’s like, ‘Come above, I’m throwing a celebration. I want to meet up with you.’”
The actor introduced his young ones to the “big blowout” and immediately bonded with Vanessa, 43, noting that she and the 98 Degrees singer, 50, “throw good parties.”
Antoon remembered an “instantaneous” conference of the minds with his “crazy Scorpio” counterpart.
The very same chemistry can be felt in the course of the complete NCIS: Hawai’i household, according to Antoon. “Everybody’s awesome,” he advised Us. “There was a ‘no asshole’ policy from the showrunner. And that tends to make a massive variation when you’re doing a clearly show. It really does.”
The feeling of ohana, which usually means household in Hawaiian, is a single of the biggest causes Antoon enjoys taking part in Ernie.
“My preferred thing [about him] is his, I would say the form of brother [and] father determine to Lucy and to Whistler,” he said, referring to people Lucy Tara (Yasmine Al-Bustami) and Kate Whistler (Tori Anderson).
He added: “I would say [being] an older brother and kind of digging into their individual life. I just really like that he receives all that info out from them.”
Antoon famous that after undertaking a couple crossover episodes with the flagship NCIS collection, he discovered that their friendships are really related to these on other spinoffs. That closeness has Antoon hopeful that if Hawai’i gets picked up for season 4, there will be a lot more joint episodes with other franchises.
“I feel CBS likes it, and it was productive when we’ve completed them with L.A. as well and [regular NCIS],” Antoon explained of long term crossovers. “And which is just awesome. It is like the Marvel universe. It’s like, ‘Why not?’ You need to dabble in that. It’s seriously cool.”
