Riots and arson have come to light in a women’s prison in the American country of Honduras. In which at least 41 women prisoners have died. Some of them died in the firing and some were burnt in the fire. Women inmates who died in jails are being identified.
According to the report, a spokeswoman for the public prosecutor’s office said Tuesday that the women’s prison, about 20 km from the Honduran capital Tegucigalpan, houses about 900 inmates. Identification of the bodies is being done at the Centro Feminino de Adaptacion Social (CFAS) prison. In which some prisoners died due to firing and some were burnt in the fire.
There is no confirmation from the government
Delma Ordonez, president of the Union of Prisoners’ Families, said there was a fight between two groups at the prison on Tuesday morning. According to local media, it was an uproar. However, the government has not supported anything. On Tuesday, relatives of the inmates stood outside the jail trying to find out about their loved ones.
In 2012, 350 inmates died in the fire
Honduran prisons have a history of such incidents. For example, in the year 2019, there was a clash between two groups in a prison in which 18 inmates were reportedly killed. Similarly, in the year 2012, a fire broke out in a prison in which more than 350 inmates died.
