On behalf of the Indian diplomats involved in the poster, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar said that we have requested our partner countries like Canada, USA, UK and Australia not to give space to Khalistanis. He said that even if a country gives shelter to these Khalistanis, it will have a direct impact on relations. The foreign minister further said that he will take up the issue of the poster going viral on social media with Ottawa and the Canadian government.

A poster is quickly going viral on social media. Khalistan supporter and terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar is depicted as a ‘martyr’ in the poster. At the same time, two Indian diplomats have been identified as ‘murderers’. The poster threatened Indian High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma in Ottawa and Consul General Apoorva Srivastava in Toronto. There is also talk of a rally on July 8 at 12.30 pm. It is being called ‘Khalistan Freedom Rally’. According to the poster, it will start from the Great Punjab Business Center and go up to the Indian Embassy. Two mobile numbers are also written below the poster.
Terrorist Nijjar was killed last month
Let us tell you that Khalistan Commando Force Chief Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead last month on June 18 in the parking lot of a Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia. He was involved in anti-India activities and violence. The Indian government had put a reward of 10 lakh rupees on Nijjar.

The poster was also shared by senior journalist Terry Milewski. He wrote that it is very dangerous. The Khalistanis are venting their anger by targeting Indian diplomats whom they call the ‘murderers’ of Hardeep Nijjar, who was shot dead on June 18. There is no evidence of India’s role in this.
Security arrangements for diplomats
Global Affairs Canada, the country’s foreign ministry and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have been tasked with protecting Indian diplomats and other personnel, a senior Indian official said. Also the Ottawa and Toronto police departments have been informally notified.
